Photobucket stinks

Photobucket suddenly changed their usage rules and wants $400 a year for you to see my photos. That's not happening so I guess this is the end of the blog.

  1. This is awful. I am going to miss the pictures so much - and checking in with all of you.

Andi, how are you feeling? And while I have great sympathy for you falling, I did not take it to the extent Maria did by falling and breaking her wrist.

Maria, everyone asked after you yesterday. We missed you.

    1. Maybe you will come over to twitter and you can visit with me and Maria. I'll be back to posting pictures on twitter in a few weeks I think.

I am making some progress but I have a long therapy ahead of me.

  2. I saw that photobucket message when I came to check your b. That's crazy about the fee! Yikes. :-/

If you still want to keep blogging (vs tweeting), could you use a new host and forget about the past images (I think you used to have a Flickr account, maybe use that? I haven't blogged in so long I'm sure things have changed. It's definitely rotten to have it happen now. No worries - or any rush - other than you getting better! We'll find you when you get back to posting wherever you end up. xo

    1. I never did Flickr. I had imageshack but I hadn't used it years. I think I'll just take this as a sign it's time to wrap the blog up.

  3. I hate to hear this Andi. When I've been gone for periods of time, it was like coming home to see your blog. I agree with Candis, no rush other than you getting better.

    Take care

    Whit

    1. I'm sorry about it too but I hope you'll come back to twitter and I've finally signed up for facebook. I'll send you a friend request.

  4. I've revived the old Booman Tribune foto flog tradition. We'll see if it catches on. I am using Flickr for now. Had the account forever. Just needed an excuse to use it. Hate what Photobucket did. That sort of thing hurts not only your own blog but effectively deletes much of our collective memory of better times at the Frog Pond as well.

    1. I'm glad you've restarted it.

I'm so pissed at Photobucket, I haven't even thought about trying a different photo host. But I'll think about it.

    2. I didn't have much on my Photobucket account, but once news of the change was made, I deleted my account. I was really hacked off. Guessing the folks running Photobucket are betting on only commercial photographers or corporate entities existing as clients. As my British friends might say, good luck with that.

Generally I have been happy enough with Flickr over the years. We'll see if it continues to be a good service for me, especially now that Verizon has bought out Yahoo and all that Yahoo once owned. For now it works. I also am relying on my Instagram account much more heavily, although I am a bit hesitant to post Instagram photos over on the Frogpond or blogs in general.

Anyhoo, the next Foto Flog will happen sometime mid-September. Keep your eyes peeled. Those sufficiently motivated will revive some semblance of community at the Pond if it kills us.

  5. Just in case you are curious, here's the latest foto flog. At least I am trying. Last month's got some response.

    1. I tried Google Photos for the Foto Flog. It takes a couple of steps to get the image link but it worked oaky.
