  1. Morning all. I know this isn't a pretty picture but it was something I'd never seen before so it fascinated me -- the creek was still frozen but we had rain and melting snow and so water filled the creek and flowed on top of the ice.

  2. Fwiw, I think that picture is gorgeous. The frozen portion almost looks tropical; with the exception of the shape of the rocks, the entire image is very similar to how warm ocean looks when it flows through groups of rocks and creates little shallow pools near the shore. Fantastic to see something like that in the Indiana woods -- makes the world seem smaller and more connected, like finding ocean fossils out in the high desert.

  3. It's cool, even if not colorful. For Jen's reasons, and others.

The TV weather dudes injected a little reality this morning for a change. Atlanta & points south, the average last freeze date is between Mar 15-30. In Sector 706, it's Mar 20-Apr 10. In other words, this morning's mid-20s are no big deal. Here, seasonal changes can be rather abrupt, and many feel like we go straight from winter to summer.

It's still pretty dang windy out there this morning. It's been a windy winter. I probably could have kept the house warm with windmills feeding space heaters. :-P

So Happy It's Thursday! Break out the booze early if you need it, you have my permission.

  4. Nifty pic! Happy it's Thursday, but I. AM. SO. OVER. WINTER. Ugh. Vicious winds up to 50mph and 24 degrees this a.m. when I woke up.

Been a BUSY week or two at the mimes - doing a ton of documentation gathering & other related tasks.

    Happy almost weekend, all!

  6. Very neat. One of the few positives of this very long winter are your photos of it.
