  2. So it's going to hover around freezing for a couple days before plunging back down to 20 below on Monday, and as now anything over 25F is contextually "hot" I was considering lying out in the yard to do some tanning*, but: 1) skin cancer; and 2) snow clouds.

Wow Kelly, those photos show such a magnificent trip! It's really great to see you and the doctor both looking so wonderful and happy. And bonus, now that you know the lay of the land, if you ever decide to relocate to NZ, you can always pick up some extra move-in cash as an extra in the 500th hobbit movie or as a special order Corporate Angel. ;p

    Happy weekend to you all.

  3. Dogs have fur coats. :-) That night it got to -1 here, I don't think Mongo ever went into his doghouse. He just curled up in the hay, out of the wind and happy as always.

And I still haven't gone to look at Kelly's pics. Once the coffee kicks in…

    1. It seems like Bebo's fur in particular couldn't be heavy/thick enough but obviously it does a better job than I can imagine.

  4. "40 Acres More or Less" has been included in the A Sunday Drive for this week. Be assured that I hope this helps to point even more new visitors in your direction.

  5. Andi, that's what I thought of Mongo. He's probably got a winter undercoat. Samson, the big stupid long-departed Akita mix, would grow THICK undercoats. I'd pull it out in wads come spring.

Daughter Dearest seems to be improving slowly, which is good. Oh, and y'all can blame Maria for a flash I wrote yesterday morning, featuring a church full of zombies singing "And Are We Yet Alive." :-P

    1. Yeah, Giddy our Malamutt had an undercoat that could have made a whole 'nother large dog. She would lie down and sleep in the snow and only the very surface of her fur would be wet.

  6. Well this should be an interesting 24 hours. It's 42 degrees now and the forecast low is 5. The forecast high tomorrow is 6 and the low is -9.
