  1. Stormy morning here. Hope everybody else is having a nice, quiet, sleepy one.

  2. That post title reads as "nip slip" to my skim-reading eye, but wow, that photo is magnificent enough to drive the skim right out and command a full examination.

We lost a big chunk of backyard tree in yesterday's storms. The same chunk of the same backyard tree that just finished growing back after previous storms took it out in pieces a few years ago was sheared clean off the trunk in a second by a single strong gust. Wes looked at me with wide-eyed panic on his wee face like it was the end of the f'n world and then drove under my bed and hid for 4 hours. More weather on its way today, like a traveling house of horrors for poor little Mr. Orange Boycat.

I steam-cleaned some of our carpet the day before yesterday and I am still so sore and exhausted that I might have to spend today in bed watching stories with my good friend Maryjane. Got Magic Mike on the DVR, the new season of Arrested Development on Netflix, and half a pizza in the fridge -- not a bad plan for a mini-staycation.

Good wishes to all for a safe weekend.

    1. Darn -- that's really too bad about the tree. :(

But it sounds like your staycation will be a nice bit of solace.

  3. Greetings from cool (cooler than Planet Georgia) NC! Went and helped one of Mom's friends get her DSL working, but had to get support involved. Fortunately, Tina at AT&T knew what she was doing and it went a lot better than I'd expected. (Geek Girlz Rule!)

I've gathered my logline/blurb results into a spreadsheet and will post Wed. Interesting trends. Apropos to the "exotic" discussion is this open letter from E. Catherine Tobler, resigning from the SFWA. I'll let you read it. Mind boggling. I'm trying to change that kind of mindset in the only way a writer can, but I'll wibble about the gestalt on Wednesday.

    1. The heartening thing is that the SWFA is taking this all very seriously and immediately without any excuses. They've already set up a task force (that includes the current and future SWFA presidents) to deal with the issue [LINK]
