  1. Morning all ... not a particularly good one for me as I have an early morning dentist appointment. Nothing wrong, just the regularly scheduled rampaging pick piercing my gums as much as it gets between my teeth.

I think digital cameras have made it easier for me to deal the "unrealness" of color because they makes it easy to see how changes in light change the color the camera sees.

    1. Andi good luck on your dental appt today. Although it's not a major thing (thank goodness), it's still not one of the things you look forward to going to.

I do like the picture of today. I wasn''t looking more at the color, but more the composition - the part of the barn, the overcast sky, the green fields with the flowers and the rolling trees. It make me think I just wish it was mine so I could just sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Oh and I didn't get to say it before, but I hope you and Jim and you mothers had great mother days.

    2. Thanks, Whit -- we had a great time with both mothers.

Glad you liked the picture -- I'd be delighted if someday I got to share the spot with you in person (though it's not very good for relaxing as it's right on a state highway).

  2. Yello!

Just a quick in&out this morning… mornings are like they always are. The Boy has Mason most of the evening, but that means he's still asleep. Well, actually, Mason and I are the only ones up, and Mason went back to bed because he was cold.

So… just need to poke at a couple more things, then it's off to the mimes.

    1. Morning Larry,

I think it's excellent with Mason getting up with you and all the stuff you do with him. I think these are thing that he'll remember for the rest of his life. No matter how young he is right now. I remember how you said you were going to miss him sooner or later, well I sure it will be the same with him. The biggest thing is you two have bonded now. And although he is still kinda young, when he advances in age he will fondly and with love remember his Grandpa.

Enjoy the mimes today or as much as possible. :)

  3. Andi, I hope your trip to the dentist goes as well as possible. I don't like it either.

    "unrealness" of color

It's a weird thing to even say, right? Because of course the color IS real on the level that we apprehend it, but then we know simultaneously that the color we see is mostly just a personal phenomenon resulting from the way our optical systems read the underlying code of the 'verse. The concept is so simple with color, and then I try to translate it to time and it gets very messy very fast, and then I think about the implications of John Wheeler's delayed-choice experiment and my brain threatens to go kerblooey.

Maybe the universe really is 6000 years old, as some fundies insist, and it only *feels* like 18 billion. :-P

I have been laughing at this since last night. Hope your Boy has a lovely visit with his Boy.

Off to the grocery store to hunt and gather. Good day to you all!

    1. I actually find it very appealing that none of us will ever really know what colors somebody else is seeing. I was especially interested to find out that there are some people (all women) who have extra cones and can discern shades of colors that the rest of us can't distinguish. It would be really cool if some of those women are also synesthetes.

  5. How is it already past noon? Busy morning for me. Took Phil in for 6 months regular service. I only have 651 miles on the car & the service guy was surprised. Still, I get 2 years free regular maintenance at my dealership, so I'm taking advantage of it!

Andi, best of luck at the dentist. Not my favorite type of appointment.

    Happy Tuesday, all!

  6. Thanks for all the good wishes on the dentist visit, folks. It went fine -- well, fine for a dentist visit.
