  1. More pretty!

Got stuck on another tedious project (helping out same coworker). Ugh. I mean, I am happy to help her because she is awesome, but this work is beyond brain numbing. Oh well.

Glad to have the weather settling into normal springlike temps and no longer near 90. A/C will be on next week in our building!

    Happy Wednesday!

  2. Morning!

Busily combing through the converted manual & re-adding bits that seem to have fallen off during the conversion. Talk about brain-numbing. :-P I was wondering why the build clocked in at "only" 650 pages… should be closer to 750 even without the index. And it took a blistering 1hr 20mins to build. YUCK. The home-grown system I've been using, based on GNU troff and other Un*x utilities and scripts, can build the whole shebang (including index) in like 4 minutes. I'm already prejudiced against this thing because I have to use a Dozebox — I wasn't joking when I told my boss to expect productivity to crater. There are some potential good things that might partially mitigate the changeover… whether the positives actually happen remains to be seen. Yeah, I know, quicherbitchin and learn Visual Basic. :-)

Well, time to get to it. This morning feels a lot less gloomy than it looks, so that's a plus…

  3. So pretty!

Yesterday I bought bulbs for the front yard lamppost garden: lilies in pink, red, white, yellow, orange & merlot; and a mix of gladiolus in a couple shades of orange and red along with some yellow and green. I can't wait to see them grow and bloom but cannot safely plant until Mother's Day. It's 75F and gorgeous outside right now but temps will be near freezing Saturday night and we'll have more frost.

I've also taken up feeding the local wild birds so the cats have a backyard channel to watch, and am enjoying that more than I ever thought I would. Just today I've seen cardinals, robins, bluejays, mourning doves, at least one woodpecker, and several others I've not yet learned to identify. Nuthatches? Titmice? At some point they must have let the six-graders name these things, lol.

    Good day to all!

  5. Beautiful colour on the trillium -- we mostly have the white ones here (actually, they're the provincial flower). Anyways, I'm sad to report that they're calling for rain or snow on Monday.

  6. Maria, did you just invent a time machine? If not ... Happy Thursday.

Larry (and Maria), we retired folk just feel so bad when you poor wage earners talk about your suffering ... and then we remember we're retired and we smile a lot. :D

No goldfinches, Jen? I'm really surprised because if you wanna see pigs fly just watch goldfinches at a feeder.

We only have the red ones here, Candis. Also, no, no, no on the snow.

And sad Thursday - just heard Levon Helm died, as did Jonathan Frid (the original Barnabas Collins). :(
