Sunday Poetry Post

Yes, she is.

A Crazed Girl
William Butler Yeats

That crazed girl improvising her music.
Her poetry, dancing upon the shore,

Her soul in division from itself
Climbing, falling She knew not where,
Hiding amid the cargo of a steamship,
Her knee-cap broken, that girl I declare
A beautiful lofty thing, or a thing
Heroically lost, heroically found.

No matter what disaster occurred
She stood in desperate music wound,
Wound, wound, and she made in her triumph
Where the bales and the baskets lay
No common intelligible sound
But sang, 'O sea-starved, hungry sea.'

  1. Great action shot!

As some of you might remember, we were the recipients of a surprise quartet of kittens last year. They had their first birthday just a couple weeks ago. It's been a while since you've seen them and they've grown quite a bit:

Gizzy has only two modes so far: a) wild-girls!; and b) since you are waking me up from my nap, I assume something is on fire.

Duckie has her mama's evil eyes, her daddy's friendly snout, and contrast so impossible to capture in any light that I need a new SOMETHING.

Blue was told there would be birthday treats! Why are there no birthday treats?! (There were many, many birthday treats.)

Billyjack is a jukebox hero. If you look closely, you can actually see the stars in his eyes. We also sometimes call him Harvey Milkstache.

I hope everyone has as lovely a day as is possible.

  2. All those kitty pics have drawn me out of my Sunday Lurker mode -- happy birthday to them al. And just to play a tiny bit (because it's only a tiny bit more than how how much I loved the rest) of favorites, I love Blue's picture the most.

  3. I appreciate your birthday wishes on their behalf because they don't give a damn. :D

Blue is the sweetest cat who ever lived, hand to Hera. She is 100% darling and wants nothing but belly-rubs, playtime, naps and treats.

Hilariously, Lucy HATES her. This is only hilarious because Lucy is harmless and an extremely mellow cat. She just seems to have trouble tolerating annoying noises (which I understand), and when Blue first started "talking", she sounded like someone was trying to fax broken glass. Thankfully, Blue has grown into her voice and it's evened out, but apparently Lucy can nurse a grudge as well as my mother, lol, so Blue still gives her a wide berth whenever they're in the same room.

  6. Great shot there! The Amazing Flying Bebo…

Sitting on the patio with Mason. Breezy, but it *is* March. Warm though. Looks like ride to work weather all week!

Jen, love the kitty pix. No favorites, they're all adorable.
