  1. Oooh, nifty wee flora! Love the golden browns and lovely soothing water.

Morning, gang! Yup, once again I sully the VGW before dawn even thinks about cracking. Le sigh.

Had a lovely visit with my new PCP yesterday (part of same practice as my lung doc). After a flurry of activity, which included tetanus booster, flu shot & blood draws, I ended up with orders for a sleep study, mammogram and PT (muscle spasms thanks to sarcoidosis inflammation). Plus bonus!meds (bp meds as bp is up thanks to steroids and flonas for sinuses).

For someone who's been pretty healthy until these last few years, I'm beginning to feel like a walking pharmacological experiment! ::g::

I'm okay with the outcome. She was a very patient doc and we had a great discussion about everything. I get to go back in 2 weeks for a fasting physical (aka, more blood draws). Evidently, long-term steroid use can lead to diabetes. I've not been on the 'roids too long, but at this point, I'd rather be cautious.

After today, I am OFF from the mimes for 5 glorious days. As long as my silly system behaves, I'm planning to do pre-New Year tidying & organizing and do some audio recording. And, of course, chilling with the kitty. Groceries have been ordered, other supplies laid in. Whee!

Hard to believe we've arrived at the end of another year.

What are y'all's plans for the holiday weekend?

  3. Perv-acious pic!

Dang, Maria, I hope they figure out what's going on. Daughter Dearest has sleep apnea… she had the test done when she was 17. Best of luck & much productive audio-fying! (Did I mention that I think the best audiobook readings are done by the authors, simply because they know what inflections each character is using when they're speaking?)

I broke 13000 words on a novella last night, less than 2000 to go. It's been a long slog, but fun, and the end is in sight! Speaking of novellas, Xenocide's last episode went up Tuesday and I'm celebrating by offering it free on Smashwords. Coupon CE84M, and here's the link.

I'll have to blog about The Boy's (now concluded) visit. It went smoothly overall in the social sense. His car, not so much. :-P

  4. Love the picture! Could be so many things.

Maria, hope you have a wonderful mini-vacation.

Farf, got Xenocide, now I just need time to read it.

Quite new year planned for me. My favorite kind.

    Waves to everyone else.

  5. Good morning everyone,

Maria hoping you good luck and that you have a restful vacation.

FAR congrats on Xenocide's last episode. Yep I want to hear about the Boy's visit. ;)

Dina I agree with you, I like quiet new years. I can't remember the last time I went out on new years.

George and I are still doing fine in our travel trailer. I'm finding out that I have a tempermental hot water heater (HTH) though. There's a button in the kitchen for turning on the HTH. Sometimes after it has been on for a while the HTH won't light up again. So I have to turn the button in the kitchen off for at least 15 minutes. If that doesn't work then I have to go outside and at the main switch box cut all the power for at least 15 minutes. I started doing all the cutting on and off at 5:00 am and the HTH didn't catch or turn on until around 9:20 am. Needless to say I was kinda frustrated this morning.

Well everybody be safe this new years and have a good time.

    Take care

  6. Maria, hope all of those docs help you find relief from way too many physical hassles. And some sleep! :(

Hey FAM! Sorry about the HTH. That does sound pretty frustrating - hopefully it behaves better soon, too.

Congrats to Farf on being so productive - you put me to shame! And make me swear to write more in 2012.

Plans for the weekend? My guys are playing a TropRock NYE event in Cocoa Beach, so I'll be wearing my sexy pirate wench outfit and selling t-shirts and CDs, and rocking the night away! Then a friend from ID and her daughter are stopping in for a night, so we'll do the sightseeing thing. And then back to the grind - whatever the grind is!

Stay warm, y'all - it's dropping to 39 tonight, so I might have to see if the heat works in this place!

  7. Yay for long weekends, Maria. And even though going to the doctor's isn't any kind of fun, I'm glad you've found one that you can work with. Very quiet NYE planned here -- dinner with my sister and a couple of friends.

I do like hearing audio books read by the authors, Farf, but the best reading of a book I've ever heard was Sissy Spacek doing To Kill a Mockinbird.

I think it's some sort creature rising out of the deep, Dina.

Howdy, Whit. That is really crappy about the water heater. Maybe you can get someone to come take a look at it -- sounds a little dangerous to me.

Sex pirate wench outfit!?! Pictures definitely needed.

  8. Beth, I'm with Maria, pix are DEFINITELY needed!!!! Hope you get more writing done next year too. ;-)

    Thanks much, Dina!

Hey Whit, when did you move into a travel trailer? If the HTH has a flaky control box that needs a smack across the chops, you might be able to just find & trip the breaker to it. But whoever looks at it should check the easy stuff first… the thermostat. Good luck with it.
