Color Metaphor Poem: Orange
Lisa J. Parker

Orange is a hot summer day
It's a strenuous hike to a well-earned view
Of a rugged stone pinnacle

Orange is a twisting canyon
Of jutting peaks
A sunset frozen in time, in a rock wall

Orange is satisfaction
From sweat and strain
The awe-inspiring result

It's exhaustion and exultation

Orange is renewed zest
Peach juice dripping off the chin
And the scent of citrus peels

Orange is the end of a perfect day
It's an ephemeral sunset
Melting away beyond
The fixed stone canvas

And orange is the unspoken promise
Of another brilliant day

  1. Love the picture!

Happy Father's Day to all fathers.

    Enjoy.

  2. That's a beautiful tiger lily shot. Ours are up now too.

Currently enjoying probably the only peace & quiet I'm going to get for Father's Day. Mason is having his post-church snooze & everyone else is gone doing other things. I'll be firing up the grill and having a beer as I grill salmon & pork on cedar planks soon enough, and that's another good thing. Now if Olga would just give me a 5000-word Burst of Creativity, it would be perfect!

  3. I hope fathers,
    & mothers,
    & brothers,
    & sisters,
    & aunt,
    & uncles,
    & nieces,
& nephews all had a great day.

Orange you glad I didn't think of anymore relatives?

  4. Now I want some orange sherbert...

No sherbert. Only sorbetto. Juice not dairy, fyi. That's the diff between sorbetto and gellato. Gellato is different than ice cream in that it's a high quality ice cream.

Beth, oh please don't feel bad. Next time making tracks through Portland or Hilsboro (next town over from me) let me know. We can hook up. I don't bite. I only rant... and protest and do street activism and write my congresscritters... and occasionally sing and dance and sometimes get maced. Pinky swear.

  7. Def next time, Janet. I wasn't scared of biting. :) Just a case of CRS and brain farts...

This poem and picture make me like orange, a color I usually shun. Good job!

Hope all had a good Dad's Day.
