  1. Happy New Year!!!
I like your preview of the future, Andi.

The pups barked at the fireworks, so I was awakened at midnight to usher in the new year.
Hubby and I went out to eat Mexican for our New Year's Eve celebration. Yum.

Must enjoy the next couple of days before reality hits again. Boring weather here but that is nice.

I'm rooting for the TCU Horned Frogs today in the Rose Bowl.

    A Great Day/Year to All.

  3. Happy first day of one more year closer to retirement, Lisa. :)

Happy New Year to you, Jen. I'm making a resolution that we will find a way to get together this year.

  4. Andi, I am FINALLY starting to feel a smidge better (combination of new meds and new diet), which hopefully will continue so we can enjoy keeping that resolution.

PS. Since I was MIA during the holidays this year, here is a belated giftlink for you all. This blogger tells stories that are funny on their own merits but her illustrations have to be seen to be appreciated in their full comedic glory. (This particular story contains the sentence, "Kenny Loggins wouldn't beat the baby Jesus...", so if that's the kind of thing one finds blasphemous and/or distasteful, well, one is probably not going to want to click on basically any of the links I post.) Enjoy!

All right, I've gotta go buy some eggs. I hope everyone has a truly lovely day. :)

  5. Happy New Year everyone, let's hope it's a good one!

Weather is back to normal here, dampish, temperate and green, thank goodness. Didn't stay up last night but were woken at 12 by fireworks at the pub up the road. I blame the millennium! Before then nobody here ever bothered with fireworks at New Year!

  6. Yeah Andi, I'd seen that post, I've been reading the site for a while -- sounds like you have, too. Sorry it isn't new entertainment for you, but at least the saga of Simple Dog & Helper Dog, along with the Kenny Loggins bit, both hold up pretty well in re-runs. :) I think my favorite post of hers so far was the one about the God of Cake. "This is for Grandpa, not for you." I imagine that's the last sentence a lot of cakes hear.

  7. A lovely late morning & happy 1.1.11 to you all!

Had a wonderful lie in with the kitty, all snuggly and cozy warm, then a nice phone call with the 'rents and now spending today and tomorrow relaxing & reading--gee, just like I did most of the week!

As Lisa said, I'm trying to focus on the now and enjoy what's left of the staycation before the real world hits all too soon.

Hugs to you all and wishing you a 2011 that is fabulous in all ways!

  8. Happy New Year to everyone who virtually visits the 40 acres. I hope you have a healthy and happy 2011.

  9. Nicky, glad the weather resolved to start the year by being properly English.

Jen, the post was new entertainment so it was still a great gift.

Stay cozy, warm, and lazy, Maria, for as long as you can.

You too, Mary. I resolve to find us better places to meet up than Effingham or Terre Haute.

  10. Vincennes. In the spring. We're gonna do it. Because over my break I started organizing my Vincennes research. :)

  11. Excellent. And now I know there'll be a at least one resolution I'm going to keep.

  12. I'm still laughing, Jen/andi. I'd never seen that site before. She is hysterical! Thanks for a New Year's giggle - I'll have to check out the cake one. Nice to start the year with a Jen sighting - glad you're doing better!

Love that shot. I like the visual of shooting through windows and doors...very cool.

A whopping 41 here at noon. But meeting friends from Coeur d'Alene for lunch, which is really exciting - weird to live in a place where I know no one.

We popped champagne here at the condo at midnight, so a peaceful evening. Football today, woo hoo! Maybe a nap...

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope it brings more joy than you can imagine.

  13. Heehee, yeah, I love Hyperbole and a Half. Those illustrations really make the whole thing into a laugh riot ("Yaaeey! The ground's all weird! I'm a dog!" is one of my faves). And I'm not sure that Helper Dog is all that much smarter than Simple Dog — although I like to say a dog's tail indicates its IQ. Curly: 0. Straight: 1.

Still fighting off a whatever-it-is that's more in my throat this time. Running low-grade fever off & on. Mrs. Fetched is a little peeved because I have an excuse to go lay down. :D

FInished e-booking the White Pickups draft, with a very rudimentary cover. Once I get through my current read (Walden, which I thought might be good for perspective), I'll start the hard work of identify what needs to be fleshed out or pared.

    Happy 2011, y'all!

  14. And I'm sure, Beth, that the friends from Coeur D'Alene will be impressed with the wonderfully warm temps in Phoenix. ;)

Well I was going to hope you feel better soon Farf but I'm not sure I should wish away your excuse to snooze on the couch.
